Following up on the IACHR's recommendations and decisions seeks to promote their implementation and to foster compliance with them among Member States of the OAS. To that end, the IACHR constantly aims to strengthen its methods to evaluate compliance, adopts strategies to access good-quality information to aid monitoring efforts, and develops activities to support implementation processes. The IACHR also promotes positive agendas for collaboration with Member States that seek concrete results in terms of implementation and compliance.

Beyond monitoring, the IACHR has also designed platforms for reflection on the impact of its work. These measures seek to identify and support State efforts and positive structural outcomes concerning the protection and promotion of the human rights of all individuals in the Americas, as a pillar and a common commitment all across the region.

To pursue this mandate, the IACHR created and launched in 2018 its Recommendations and Impact Follow-Up Section (SSRI), a cross-sectional area covering all of the Commission's tools. The SSRI is linked to the Executive Secretariat IACHR and focuses on coordinating follow-up of the IACHR's recommendations and decisions, ensuring that follow-up is cross-sectional, identifying the impact of the Commission's work, and maximizing its relevance (Executive Order of the General Secretariat of the OAS GS/OAS 17/06, Annex I, D, 7).

To fulfil its mandate, the SSRI has developed various lines of work, including the Inter-American SIMORE, the Observatory of Impact, and case monitoring through published merits reports.

The SSRI has particularly focused on creating mechanisms, platforms, and strategies to follow up on recommendations made to various countries, ensuring the participation of relevant stakeholders including States, civil society organizations, victims and victim organizations, national human rights institutions, academia, and international organizations.
