OAS to Host Roundtable in Commemoration of International Women’s Day

The Organization of American States (OAS) will host on Monday, March 17, at 10:00 EDT (14:00 GMT),the 57th OAS Policy Roundtable, convened to discuss “Women, Peace, and Security in the Americas: Creating Stable, Secure Communities through Empowerment and Education,” in commemoration of International Women’s Day.

The OAS Secretary General, José Miguel Insulza, will deliver the welcoming remarks. Secretary General Insulza sent a message on March 8, date of the celebration of International Women’s Day.

The event will also feature a presentation by Charito Kruvant, President and CEO of Creative Associates International, a services firm that specializes in the promotion of international development. The subsequent discussion will be moderated by Johanna Mendelson Forman, Scholar-in-Residence at theSchool of International Service at American University, and in which will participate Wanda K. Jones, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Health, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; Stephenie Foster, Senior Policy Advisor, Office of Global Women’s Issues, U.S. Department of State; and
Celina Realuyo, Professor, William J. Perry Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies, National Defense University.

The Permanent Representative of the United States to the OAS, Ambassador Carmen Lomellin, will deliver the closing remarks.
