OAS and Suriname Sign Agreement on Firearms Marking

The Organization of American States (OAS) and the Republic of Suriname will sign tomorrow, Tuesday, September 11, a cooperation agreement for the implementation of the project "Promoting Firearms Marking in Latin America and the Caribbean."

The agreement provides for the grant by the OAS of a firearms marking machine and the corresponding computer system, as well as the training needed to use this technology.

By signing this agreement, Suriname joins the other 24 countries in the region that are already part of this initiative: Argentina, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Bahamas, Belize, Costa Rica, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Honduras, Jamaica, Uruguay, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Saint Lucia, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.
