The Secretary General of the Organization of American States (OAS), Albert R. Ramdin, will begin tomorrow an official visit to Peru, as part of the Organization of American States’ ongoing engagement with member states and partners across the Hemisphere.
During this visit, Secretary General Ramdin will meet with members of government at the highest levels, as well as other key stakeholders, to advance dialogue on democratic governance, institutional strengthening, security, and development—central priorities of the OAS and the Inter-American system. Current developments in several countries will be part of these discussions. Secretary General Ramdin and the senior leadership at OAS will continue monitoring these developments in the Americas and respond swiftly when action is required.
While in Lima, Secretary General Ramdin has been invited to deliver the 67th Lecture of the Americas at San Martin de Porres University (USMP), under the theme: “A Common Agenda of Peace and Prosperity in the Americas.” The Lecture Series of the Americas is a long-standing space at the OAS for reflection and commitment to the future of our region, and the University has been a partner and sponsor of this initiative for more than two decades.
These engagements reflect the Organization’s continued emphasis on direct, constructive diplomacy and on strengthening cooperation across the Americas in pursuit of shared peace, prosperity, and democratic values.
